The project

We had an exercise in which we had to create a brand new level of Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and a new mechanic to use in this level. We decided to create a cloning ability.

The first thing was to think about a mechanic that would be useful either in combat and with puzzles. We also thought that a clone which has the same moveset than Cal would be easy to understand while offering a lot of possibilities with puzzles.

Abilities
The player can cast the clone whenever he wants. It slowly consumes Cal' Force gauge while it's alive but it can be canceled anytime the player wants. In a certain range around Cal, the clone can do every move and skill Cal knows, but with half Cal' statistics (except the Force gauge which is common to both Cal and the clone). When casted, the player controls the clone and Cal cannot move. The player can pause the clone to regain the control of Cal, then pause Cal to control the clone.
